The New Years Eve celebration is the biggest party outside of Carnival. Usually some of the best bands and singers of Salvador put on a free concert at the Barra light house. Using 4 tons of explosives, there is a 20 minute fireworks celebration at midnight. Everyone dresses in white as a symbol for peace in the New Year. After midnight, the party is moved to Porto da Barra beach and continues until the early morning .

White clothes, you will stand out without them. The New Years Eve concert at the light house in Barra starts at 9pm. The free concert always brings some of the biggest names in the brazilian music scene. You can also rent a table with a view at a near-by restaurant for a more private and romantic party . After the firewaorks show, most people move to the Porto da Barra beach where there are tables, chairs and a disco set up in the sand, where the party continues until early the next day.
