The Arena Fonte Nova is just 5km from Barra and the hotel.

The city will be removing the street that runs along the beach tranforming the waterfront into a large ocean front plaza just in front of the hotel at Porto da Barra beach. This means no more buses running directly in front of the hotel, only pedestrians. This same development is also taking place at the light house where the traffic is being eliminated and turned over to the pedestrians, again with a large plaza and a new sea wall or boardwalk from the light house to Barra. Great video of what he plaza will look llike when finished, Nova Barra.

The old Fonte Nova was blown up and the city built a new stadium from the ground up. The following you tube video, in portuguese, is a good presentation of the new resources the new stadium offers. Arena Fonte Nova. One of the first stadiums to finish construction sold the naming rights for R$100 million to the beer company until 2023, Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova. The stadium will seat approximately 52000 people for the world cup games.

The traffic has already been changed and the light house is now restricted to pedestrians and bicycles, October 2013. The construction is programmed to move to Barra in it's final stages and be finished in May just in time for the world cup. Aside from the new boardwalk and plazas being build, rented bicycles are being installed all around the city including Barra, Pelourinho, Campo Grande, Ondina and many other neighborhoods.
